Consists of a nineteenth century manuscript copy of a two-volume field book of surveys made for the distribution of the common lands of Bergen Township originally dating from 1764-1765. This survey was created by a committee of seven impartial judges (Jacob Spicer, Charles Clinton, William Donaldson, Azariah Dunham, John Berrian, Abraham Clark, Jr., and Samuel Willis) from throughout the region to resolve longstanding land disputes over private encroachments on public lands that lay outside the walls of Bergen Township. Typical entries include the tract number, its history, the name of the resident the tract is awarded to, and the measurements of the tract.
